Who Is Jerome Crayon?

To set the record straight, Jerome Crayon is the half-brother of rapper Dr. Dre. Jerome is the son of Verna Young and Curtis Crayon. Jerome’s mother was married to Dr. Dre’s biological father, Theodore Young but they separated in 1968 and divorced in 1972.

Jerome’s mother, Verna Young had three children with Curtis Crayon, sons Jerome and Tyree (both deceased) and daughter Shameka. Jerome’s mother Verna is a teacher at the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School. She had also become the principal of Bonham Elementary School for nearly nine years.

Jerome’s mother later got divorced from his father, Curtis Crayon, and married Warren Griffin. Warren also had children from a previous marriage; three daughters and one son Warren Griffin III (Warren G). Unfortunately, Jerome Crayon died after suffering from pneumonia as an infant. Dr. Dre dedicated a track called “The Message” off the album 2001 to Jerome, per sources.

Jerome’s biological brother, Tyree who was born on March 19, 1968, also died at age 21 on June 25, 1989, in a violent incident. According to sources, he was killed after a vicious gang-related attack that left him with a broken neck. Dr. Dre dedicated the last song on his successful album ‘The Chronic’ to his late brother. Jerome Crayon’s brother is Andre Romelle Young known professionally as Dr. Dre. Dr. Dre was born in Compton, California, on February 18, 1965. He is a rapper, record producer, and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics, and previously co-founded, co-owned, and was the president of Death Row Records.

Dr. Dre began as a member of the World Class Wreckin’ Cru in 1985. He found fame with the gangsta rap group N.W.A. During the early 1990s, he was credited as a key figure in the crafting and popularization of West Coast G-funk, a subgenre of hip hop characterized by a synthesizer foundation and slow, heavy beats.

Dr. Dre had his solo debut studio album called The Chronic (1992), released under Death Row Records. He released the singles “Let Me Ride”, and “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang”. He produced Snoop Dogg’s debut album Doggystyle, which became the first debut album for an artist to enter the Billboard 200 album charts at number one. He has introduced many artists to the industry including Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Daz Dillinger, RBX, the Lady of Rage, Nate Dogg, and Jewell.

Dr. Dre co-produced six tracks on Eminem’s landmark Marshall Mathers LP, including the Grammy-winning lead single, “The Real Slim Shady”. He made his first on screen appearance as a weapons dealer in the 1996 bank robbery movie Set It Off. He also appeared in the movies The Wash and Training Day. His song, “Bad Intentions” (featuring Knoc-Turn’Al) and produced by Mahogany, was featured on The Wash soundtrack.

Dr. Dre has released his first brand of headphones, Beats by Dr. Dre, which consisted of Beats Studio, a circumaural headphone; Beats Tour, an in-ear headphone; Beats Solo & Solo HD, a supra-aural headphone; Beats Spin; Heartbeats by Lady Gaga, also an in-ear headphone; and Diddy Beats.
