The concept of overnight oats isn't novel—it's been around for a while. Convenient, heart-healthy, and delicious, overnight (or cold) oats are a pretty easy meal to prepare. But what if we told you that you can purchase pre-made overnight oats that come in a variety of flavors (like coffee coconut, apple cinnamon, dark chocolate, and more) and are individually packaged in a 5 or 6 oz. serving cup you can grab on the go? Meet MUSH, a cold oatmeal brand and your new favorite ultra simple breakfast (or lunch, or dinner, or snack—there are no rules when it comes to oatmeal!).

Like we said: overnight oats have been popular for some time, but what makes MUSH stand out is that the work is done for you—and most importantly, it’s done in a sustainable way and without any added or artificial preservatives, fillers, or flavors. Don’t let the simple ingredient list fool you though. All six flavors (and exciting limited edition flavor drops like Carrot Cake and Peaches & Cream to keep you on your toes) are well-rounded and can stand alone as a meal (if you want it to) without requiring a trip to the grocery store for fruit or chocolate to add.

Apple Cinnamon, 12 Pack - 6oz Cups — $60.00

If you’re not completely sold on every flavor, you can always go for a pack of one flavor. The apple cinnamon has the nostalgic taste of oatmeal my grandmother used to make on the stovetop.

Custom Variety Pack — $60.00

You can always create your own variety pack as well! This is great option if a whole pack of one flavor is a bit too much, but one or two flavors might not strike your fancy. The coffee coconut and the vanilla bean pair nicely with my morning cup of coffee. I also love to have a banana along with my oatmeal.

And look: I’ve tried meal prep. I’ve thought to myself many times that *this* would be the week I start going to the grocery on the same day, once a week, with a carefully planned list of ingredients and come home to do my cooking and rationing. If you can accomplish that, kudos to you! However, I have decided there is no shame in letting the pros help me out a bit. So I tried MUSH, and found out it was so, so worth it. Aside from the convenience factor (I save so much time every night!), every flavor is super tasty (oatmeal can sometimes be a bit bland, but every single variety of MUSH has a ton of flavor‚ and the creamy texture makes it feel decadent). If you have your heart set on a specific flavor, go for it. But I'd definitely recommend getting the mixed pack so you can sample everything MUSH has to offer.

Plus, because it's dairy and gluten free, it’s easy on most stomachs. And like we previously mentioned, oatmeal is an RD-favorite when it comes to heart-healthy foods. Oats contain “a special fiber called beta-glucan which has been implicated in lowering cholesterol,” Monica Auslander Moreno, MS, RD, Nutrition Consultant for RSP Nutrition, previously told Well+Good. This special fiber works with the rest of these nutrients to keep you full for a longer amount of time.

The creator ofMUSH began the company out of necessity and a personal goal of living a well life in the midst of a busy schedule and demanding work life. "After college, I started a demanding career in finance and struggled to fuel myself throughout the day. It was actually quite difficult to find foods that were delicious, healthy, and satiating,” said Ashley Thompson, CEO and Co-Founder of MUSH. But why oatmeal? Thompson said the ultimate goal is to help provide more healthy (and convenient) meal choices for people, and oatmeal “piggybacks off a staple in the American diet—cereal—and offers unparalleled accessibility for as many Americans as possible.”
